Sendai is a 400 year city located on the eastern coast of Japan, with a population of about 1 million. Situated 350 km north of Tokyo, it is the capital of the Tohoku region which is almost half of the mainland Japan. Tohoku University, the third best university of Japan is situated here. Every year many Muslim students, from the whole world, come to Sendai for studies. Presently more than 120 Muslim families are living here. Although there are many churches, Buddhist temples and other places of worship but there is no permanent Mosque in this area.
